comment: Since this is native to high elevation in Panama we have eliminated both wagneriana and stricta from the list of possibilities. Our other lennartianas look very similar in vegetation and inflorescence shape.

This looks something like H. wagneriana in the photos, but if you saw it in person, you wouldn't call it a wag.





The description of where this plant came from, in the highlands, doesn't coincide with H. wagneriana. However, I leave the discussion open until I actually see it in the wild.

bract color: Red-orange, yellow keel and strip close to lip, lip with green stripe.

location: Not in its native location. Collected from a garden in Panama, Chiriquí province, Buena Vista. Said to be native of Cerro Colorado, Chiriquí.
elevation: Collected at 700; supposedly native at about 1000 meters
