This individual is near the Panama Canal on the Atlantic coast. This is green-tipped variety.





Overhanging the Interamerican Highway in western Panama. Bracts are red and yellow rather than red and green.

VEGETATION

height: 4 - 5 meters
color notes: Split leaves and white waxy coating under leaves and on stems helps with ID when not in flower.

INFLORESCENCE

form: pendent
orientation: distichous
bract color: Red with yellow tip and lip; some individuals show more green than yellow.
rachis: Red, young rachis pinkish yellow.
ovary: pink with green tip
