Tan velvet on the rachis





This healthy clump was the only one we saw of this mystery plant.

INFLORESCENCE

form: pendant

bract color: Red with thin yellow line along the lip.
rachis: Red with a covering of tan velvet.
number of bracts: 12 or more - the infl. were not fully developed.
overall length: 80, but not fully mature centimeters

flower form: slightly curved
ovary: white, but not developed

habitat notes: Primary forest, but along a cleaned road which allowed more light to enter.
common at this location: This big plant is the only one we saw.
