Carla's Heliconia Garden
Heliconias

NAME

Heliconia vaginalis (maybe, from Gatun)

subgenus Stenochlamys

section I'm uncertain

native to: Panama
comment: One expert calls this vaginalis, in spite of the zingiberoid leaves. The same as the vaginalis from nearby Lagartarita.

PHOTOS

Open understory in undisturbed forest is one type of habitat.

Permanent forest gap (due to the roadway) in primary forest makes an ideal situation.
